Cindy Harlan Youse - Biography |
My artistic goals to share an appreciation of, and the naturalistic representation of something beautiful...be it a garden scene, organic forms of nature, an expressive face, or figures in action. My paintings are almost always executed "alla prima:, working wet into wet, thick paint over thin paint, all in one session. I am most inspired by the immediacy and spontaneity of painting on location, "en plein air: in natual settings nationwide. Cindy Harlan Youse has drawn and painted all of her life. After receiving a degree in design at University of Cincinnati's DAAP, Cindy studied painting at John Herrin Art Institute and Miami University. In the 90's, Cindy took up "plein air" painting with her favorite Western Masters Ralph Oberg, Wayne Wolfe, and Matt Smith. Today her award winning landscapes, lush garden scenes, and figurative works have appeared in International Artist Publications, National Juried Exhibitions, and private collections from California to London. Recent awards include Plein Air Painters of America- Marlin Linville Award, Viewpoint National Competition- Dragonfly Award and Oil Painters of America- Award of Excellence.
